Traditionally, accelerated learning has been used to fill gaps with students who are struggling or otherwise falling behind. It would typically be implemented with children who had specific reading exceptionalities, those who started school late or children who fell behind due to extended absence. Now with a new post-pandemic educational model, we are looking at a much broader range of learning experience.

School districts and teachers strive to piece together means of curriculum delivery in an uncertain landscape. Often with little planning time and insufficient resources, teachers have been challenged to maintain educational stability.

This situation has led to classrooms full of students with wide ranging disparities. To give all children equal access to learning, they should be starting with the same skill set. This is an enormous task given the disparity and diversity of experience students are beginning the school year with.
